Night of the Radishes (Noche de Rábanos)

Master carvers turn 50cm radishes into elaborate nativity scenes, folkloric tableaux, and full dioramas in the Zócalo, put them on public display for a few golden hours, hand out prizes around 9pm — and by the next morning it's all wilted compost. Night of the Radishes has run this way, on this exact date, for 129 editions: art with a built-in countdown clock, judged and gone before it has time to become precious.
